Top 5 Myths about CBD Explained

In today’s society, we have an arsenal of information at our fingertips. If you have a question about pretty much anything, you can most likely find the answer with just a short internet search or even just uttering “hey siri.” In a world so saturated with information, some of it is bound to be conflicting. This is no different with CBD. Although you can get thousands of answers about all things CBD in seconds, it doesn’t mean all of it is correct! So, let’s clear up some common myths about CBD that you may have encountered.

1. Myth: All CBD is the Same

Here at Proper Canna, we know this is a myth because of how hard we’ve worked to make our CBD products stand out among the rest! Since the CBD market is fairly unregulated, it’s easier for some companies to fly under the radar and not make their products the highest quality. They may source their hemp from growers who use harmful pesticides and solvents. Additionally, some manufacturers may not provide third party testing along with their products to prove that the claims they are making about their products, such as the CBD content, are true. This testing also shows harmful mold, salmonella, E. coli, and other dangerous items that could potentially be found in the products. We follow all our products from ‘farm to bottle’ to ensure we’re providing the highest quality products to our customers. Everything is grown, manufactured, and packaged right here in Colorado! We’re essentially able to drive down the street to where our hemp is grown!

2. Myth: CBD can get you “High”

CBD will most definitely not get you “high.” CBD comes from the hemp plant, and must contain less than 0.3% THC. THC is the cannabinoid that produces psychoactive effects, and it comes from the marijuana plant. While the hemp and marijuana plant are both from the same species (cannabis sativa), their genetic profiles are very different. For some, CBD may make them more calm and relaxed, it’s not going to provide a euphoric feeling or make you feel psychically and mentally impaired. As we mentioned earlier, you’ll definitely want to be sure you’re buying from a company you know is trustworthy, as some may claim there’s no THC in their product when there indeed is.

3. Myth: CBD is dangerous

If you’re buying from a reputable CBD company like Proper Canna, it’s very safe. On the contrary, companies with no third-party testing to back their products are probably not going to be the best choice to order from. Their products may initially be cheaper, but there are some aspects to worry about as far as safety. As mentioned previously, their products may contain harmful items such as mold or E. coli. Additionally, they may not be aware of what’s being used to grow the hemp they get their CBD from. It may contain harmful chemicals and solvents, which can cause very serious issues such as nervous system damage. You can’t overdose on CBD, and even taking more than the recommended amount will likely just cause some minor stomach upset or fatigue. Of course, as with any product, if you’re taking other medications it’s important to check with your doctor to make sure CBD won’t interfere with them.

4. Myth:CBD is addicting

Due to the fact that CBD is non-psychoactive, it’s been found that it is not addictive even in higher doses. Substances such as THC, that are psychoactive, can be habit-forming. On the other hand, CBD is regulated in a way that it can not contain more than 0.3% THC. Studies have found there’s really no potential for dependence or abuse. Although you’ll probably want to make a habit of taking your CBD daily to get the best benefits from it, you really don’t need to worry about becoming dependent on it if for some reason you decide to stop taking it. Since CBD is currently fairly unregulated, it’s important to be sure you’re buying from a reputable company like Proper Canna if you’re concerned about the THC content. Although some companies may claim there is little to no THC in their products, the only way to be sure is to obtain third-party testing results as we do.

5. Myth: CBD hasn’t been scientifically proven to help any health conditions

This is simply not accurate. The FDA approved Epidiolex in 2018. (a CBD-based medication for seizure disorders that are difficult to treat) Making it the first cannabis-based (in this case, CBD-based) medication to get the agency’s approval since cannabis became a Schedule 1 drug in 1970. This was a tremendous development and a big win for the CBD industry. Finally getting some recognition for its use and its future possibilities.
According to the federal government, cannabis’s Schedule 1 status means it has “no medical value.” Yet, the results of the clinical trials of this CBD-based medication were so compelling that the FDA was forced to approve it.
Of course, doing your due diligence when it comes to research is key. Please know that here at Proper Canna we are always here to clear up any questions you may have.
